Wingfield is a small village in the Waverney Valley on the borders of Suffolk and Norfolk, although only small in size and quiet in nature there is an amazing amount of history linked to it. In Tudor times Wingfield was thought to be one of the richest villages in Suffolk, due to the wool trade.

Wingfield boasts the beautiful church of St Andrew, build in 1362 as a collegiate church for Sir John Wingfield’s foundation, Wingfield College. Of particular note Inside the church are the effigies of Sir John de Wingfield, Michael de la Pole, his wife Katherine and John de la Pole and his wife Elizabeth.

Wingfield is well situated for a number of excellent pubs and restaurants serving locally brewed ales and good quality food, this includes our own local, The de la Pole Arms, which serves food both for lunch and evening meals. We are happy to make a reservation for you.

Holly Tree House is ideally situated for exploring the Suffolk countryside and Heritage coast be it Southwold or Aldebugh for the pier, beach and shops or Snape Maltings for concerts and shopping.
For the more energetic you can take a walk to explore Minsmere or Dunwich or take a ferry from Southwold to Walberswick and participate in some crabbing!
